10 On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal (Meaning Wheel or Rolling Away) on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover. 11 The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain. 12 The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate of the produce of Canaan.
The Fall of Jericho
13 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?"
14 "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "What message does my Lord have for his servant?"
15 The commander of the LORD's army replied, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so...
An unexpected neighbor visited me this last Saturday afternoon, November 14 as I was resting. He asked if he could talk with me. I invited him in and gave him a drink of water. He told me that he had been with other good people who were discussing the future of our nation. I said I was sorry that I was not able to meet with them because I was very tired and feeling a little overwhelmed- just so much to do...My neighbor told me that he understood and felt the same too. He asked if he could share Joshua 5 with me and wanted me to know that many people are tired now, but God was calling now and now is the time to act...He assured me that fellow neighbors would also help to carry out the necessary tasks together.
Just as we feel we have no more time and energy left to fight the enemy, our Holy Father comes to visit us unexpectedly during a quiet moment. The Holy Spirit is revived by a good friend or kind stranger that truly knows how we feel. God assures us that our patient search for Him will be rewarded with the necessary provisions at just the right moment that only He decides for us.
Despite our weary flesh, God's Word builds us up spiritually and prepares us for our next task- our next battle in this world to behold His Glory. When His time is at hand and He is with us...Do not be afraid. Give yourself to the One True Master -Jesus- He is Holy... And be of good cheer for the Victory is already written. Amen.
